Should I use a travel agent?

If you are booking a vacation package, a travel agents services should be free (they'll make money on comissions). So there is no reason not to take advantage of their expertise.
But, before we use an agent, we make sure that they actually visit the Yucatan and share our love for the area.

Budget?

What you can spend will dictate
what type of hotel or resort you can
afford. Personally, we'd rather visit
Paradise on a strict budget and stay
in economy hotels than not visit at all.
Since airfare will be a major portion
of your budget, we suggest you get
an idea of the fare, then plan your
trip around the price of your flight.
Get your travel agent busy, or
search airlines yourself using our
Flights to Cancun section as a starting point.

Find your place in the sun

There are about a dozen different
tourist destinations in the Cancun
area, each with distinct personality.
Use our resort area help page to narrow down the resort areas that meet your vacation goals.
  Once you've narrowed your search
read our destination guide pages
to find more information about the personality of each resort area.

Decide on a hotel or resort

Once you've decided on a few
areas you like, search our
hotel locations guide where
you'll find information on over
600 hotels, resorts, and hostels.

Best time to visit

Some people prefer to visit when
there are no crowds; others just want
to get away from the snow and cold
at home. We love to go any time
of year!
  Our cancun calendar will
help you understand the peak time
and slow times of Cancun area
tourism.
You'll also want to read all our information about Cancun weather
to see temperatures, rainfall, and
even water temperature, throughout
the year.

Documents & preparation

The most important item is a passport. Visit our Passport & documents page and make sure you have everything to
help assure a trouble-free trip.
