Cancun documents

immigration form (tourist card)

Paperwork that you will be asked to complete on the
airplane before your arrival in Cancun include an
immigration form (often called a "tourist card"), and a
customs declaration form, so make sure you have at
least one black ink pen in your backpack.
At right the new immigration form is shown. It has been simplified and is much easier than it used to be.
The portion in green to the left of the dotted line will be torn off and given back to you by the immigration officer. You will have to turn this "tourist card" in when you leave the country, so put it in a safe place, and DO NOT LOSE IT!

More document information:
Don't lose your tourist card
• Keep your card in a safe place
(the resort safe is probably best).
• Double-check that you have your tourist card
the day before you depart.
If you lose your tourist card

You can replace your card at the airport immigration office.
First, you go to the immigration office where you will fill out paper work; next you go to the bank window and pay for your new card (the replacement fee is 525 pesos, or about $40US); then you return to the immigration office with your receipt, and get your new card. We would definitely try to do this as far in advance of our flight as possible, in case things go slowly for some reason.

This is for practice only. You will receive the official form to fill out on the plane.
