All tourists traveling to Cancun must have a passport. You will have to apply in person at a passport agency, or an acceptance facility (typically post offices and county recorder offices).

To apply, you will need:
• An official birth certificate
  (it will have a raised seal).
  Where to go for a birth certificate.
  If you were not born in the U.S., visit
  the State Department web site.
• Completed form DS-11.
  You can fill out the form online, then
  print it; or download a blank copy.
• Two passport photographs.
  May be available at
  post offices, Walgreens,
  Walmart, CVS, RiteAid.
• A photo drivers license

According to the Department of State, processing time is 4 to 6 weeks from the date of application.

  Expedited service is available for an additional $60 fee. Overnight delivery
is available for $14.85.
Ths service is reported to take
2 to 3 weeks. If you need a passport faster you may need to visit a passport agency center. More information.

 

Prices:
Adult (good for 10 years),
$75 plus a $25 (execution fee).
Children under 16 (good for 5 years),
$60 plus a $25 (execution fee).
