Sun Angle explained

The earth travels through
space and spins around an
axis that is tilted at a 23.5
degree angle (in the
illustration at right you can
see the earth spinning at
this angle with Cancun
shown as a red star).
When the earth is on one side of the sun, the northern hemisphere is in the direct path of the sun's rays and enjoys summer.
As the earth revolves to the other side of the sun, the northern hemisphere will be tilted away and experience winter.
Luckily Cancun is located near the equator, so the angle does not change as dramatically as North America and Europe.
